February:Valentines in the making

Last week we had a snow storm. I got sent home from work early. It was a fun adventure driving home in all the snow, I can safely say that since I didn't have any troubles even though there was a good five inches of snow on the roads. I just took in nice and slow. And then I had a nice cozy day in my studio drinking tea and making valentines.

Here I have all my Valentine making supplies  papers, stickers, lace and illustrations all laid out where I can see all of them in one spot so I can see what looks good together.
There are certain standards I have for valentines, here are my keywords that I use.
Pink, red, roses, heart, lace, old fashion, fancy lettering/ lovely handwriting,elegant, old fashion, feminine, and romantic

This is one of my favorites. And it meets my standards. Its pink, old fashion, has roses on it, its romantic looking and the pearls gives it an especially feminine look.

This one isn't exactly a valentine, its wall art that was valentine inspired, its elegant, red, roses, old fashion, fancy lettering, and feminine

December was crazy busy for me, since is was the busy season I worked a ton of hours and any days off I had I was Christmas shopping.
January was not as busy as December but still had its crazy moments.
But now its slowed down and is quite which is very lovely. I have more time to do the things that got put on the back burner.

My goals are to paint a bunch and get prints made. Get at least three stationary cards painted and printed. Do more posts here. Go through my clothes and get rid of the items I don't wear and trailer the ones that don't fit me properly.
I'm in the mood to do a lot of cleaning and organizing.

 

Fall : A Quick Hello                                           

 

  

It has been some time since I've posted, and I do apologize. I recently went on a big shopping trip to purchase a bunch of new supplies for my etsy shop, a ton of new paper and stickers and all the good stuff.

It has been a beautiful fall where I live not too cold ,in fact it has been very warm. The colors have been beautiful! In past years the trees have been most disappointing they just dried up and fell off without changing at all. 

I have some Fall projects that I'm doing, candle dipping with my mom is the current one I'm on, we've had a few hiccups in the works but I'll going more into that on another post. 

I have taken many long walks and soaked in the beauty around me drunk and ton of tea, did a  sketch of Grace Kelly, started Fall cleaning, and am getting the itch to get out my knitting needles.

My first Studio 

  My first studio ever was very simple I had a dressing table where the mirror folded down which turned it into a desk and that's what I used for a work surface. I emptied my dressing table   drawers of all the beauty items in them and stored my paints, brushes, pencils etc.

I just used a small table top easel to draw and paint on. 

I started out very simple, and it worked very well and I just kept building from there.

I can not seem to stop painting these black eye susans. They are just such a cute fun flower yet, there is something super elegant about that.

I love how this card turned out, the flowers make it feel very country and the border makes it very elegant and feminine. The blue dots just make everything pop.

 

This card is done in water color( the flowers and any blue) and the vines on the border are done in color pencil. 

I have had very good luck painting watercolors right on card stock, well, that is if you do it very careful, if you mess up and try to lift the paint, that is when you take a clean brush with clean water and brush it over the spot you want to lift and then blot with paper towel, when using watercolor paper it works like a dream but with card stock you try to do that and the paper starts rubbing off and looks horrible. But with these flowers I have no problem!

The Best Thing About Summer: Flowers

 

 

When I think about summer I think about long country walks, everything is lush and green and there are tons of wild flowers: Black eye Susan , tall Bellflower's, and Queen Anne's lace

 

 

I can't seem to stop painting Black eye Susans they are just so much fun to paint and I can do them very fast.

Flowers make my soul happy!

After adding some newspaper, a pit of tracing paper and some cool paper items we have the finished card. A pretty great card for this dude to live on

 

  

I am going to be adding some items on the shop featuring this dude real soon.

Now for the other masculine card I made. 

 

 

Maps can be  very masculine looking. The ripped edge of the map makes it look old and adds character.

One of the materials I used in this card was little ferns I had pressed last fall it adds such a earthy elegance to the card.

An old fashion Dude

   I was commissioned to make two men's cards. I haven't done to many man cards,painting dresses     being my forte. But I really enjoyed drawing this dude.
He is done in charcoal and 2HB pencil and took about an hour or two to draw.
This is just a sneak peek tomorrow I will post the finished card along with the other man card I made.
